For Those Looking for Men’s Kimono and Yukata in Tokyo
2026年01月25日
Our shop is a specialty store offering men’s kimono and yukata in Tokyo.
At our store, we mainly work with tailoring from high-quality fabrics such as silk, cotton, and linen.
At the same time, we also carry ready-to-wear men’s kimono, haori coats, and yukata that can be worn immediately if the size fits.
Rather than focusing on one fixed style, we help customers choose what suits their purpose and the occasion, taking time to consider how the garment will actually be worn.
Our selection includes men’s kimono, haori coats, nagajuban, obi belts, haori cords, yukata, Inverness coats, and kakufuku-style coats, all carefully chosen with a focus on men’s traditional wear.
From everyday wear to garments for special occasions, we aim to offer suggestions that feel natural and comfortable.
Kimono is not driven by trends, and when chosen carefully, it can be worn and enjoyed for many years.

Seasonal Selection
Depending on the season, our lineup changes naturally.
In autumn and winter, we focus more on men’s kimono and haori, while toward spring and summer, we increase our selection of yukata and lighter garments.
In recent years, we have also seen more overseas visitors, influenced by inbound tourism.
Some international customers visit us specifically looking for men’s kimono or haori, while others choose yukata even during the winter season.
For First-Time Wearers and Experienced Collectors
Whether you are wearing kimono for the first time or already own several pieces and are looking for your next garment, we offer suggestions tailored to each individual.
Rather than mass sales or excessive promotion, we value the process of seeing, touching, and choosing each piece carefully, one by one.

If you are looking for men’s kimono or yukata in Tokyo or Ginza, please feel free to stop by and take your time browsing.
Black Men’s Kimono Are Popular with Overseas Customers
2025年12月21日
At my shop, black men’s kimono are often chosen by overseas customers.
Black kimono tend to be seen as “cool,” with images of samurai or warriors—especially by visitors from abroad. In practice, many people simply choose black or dark navy.
We Recommend Styling with Black as the Base
Black is easy to coordinate. Using black as the base, you can add color with an obi or haori himo, or pair it with a gray-toned haori. Of course, a black kimono with a black haori is also a clean and cool combination.

About Black Kimono and Black Haori
Because black is often chosen, we try to keep black kimono and black haori in stock as much as possible. We also carry ready-to-wear kimono and haori, so it’s easy to choose a proper men’s kimono set here.
Men’s Kimono for Tea Ceremony – Customers Who Visit Us from Overseas
2025年12月02日
A customer living in California visited our shop
Recently a customer who lives in California visited our shop.
She is Japanese, and her husband is American. They practice tea ceremony(sado) together in the U.S.
As we talked, she told me that the number of people practicing tea ceremony in America is gradually increasing.
She came to Japan this time hoping to find a kimono and haori coat for her husband’s tea ceremony, so she first looked around several department stores. However, she said there were very few suitable items, and the ones she did find were very expensive. That is how she eventually ended up at our shop.
Through a video call with her husband, we chose a kimono fabric and a haori fabric for him.
We did not take care of the tailoring this time – she purchased the bolts of fabric and took them back to the U.S. as they were.

The fabrics in the photo are part of the pure-silk kimono line that I usually recommend for tea ceremony.
The price of each bolt is JPY 110,000 (roughly several hundred US dollars, depending on the exchange rate).
People who practice tea ceremony, even overseas, often follow a similar path: they first start with a polyester kimono, then gradually feel like “I’d like to try wearing silk as well.” When they come to Japan, they look for a place where they can buy a proper men’s kimono, and some of them find their way to our shop.
It makes me feel that men’s kimono for tea ceremony is spreading not only within Japan, but also quietly around the world.
Another customer from California
We also had another couple visit us who are living in California.
In this case, the husband ordered a full tea-ceremony outfit:
a men’s kimono and a pure-silk haori coat.
For this couple we are taking care of the tailoring at our shop. The finished items will be ready around January, and they plan to pick everything up the next time they come to Japan.
We do not ship overseas or sell online
Our shop does not offer overseas shipping or online sales.
However, for customers living abroad, there are still a few ways to enjoy a proper pure-silk men’s kimono from our shop:
〇 Place an order when you visit Japan, and pick it up at the shop on your next trip.
〇 Use a domestic delivery / forwarding service to send the finished kimono to an address in Japan.
〇 Ask a friend or acquaintance in Japan to receive the parcel for you.
With a little bit of planning, it is possible to have a men’s kimono for tea ceremony tailored in pure silk, even if you are living overseas.
I hope this article can be a reference for anyone living outside Japan who would like to wear a proper men’s kimono for tea ceremony.
Why Many Overseas Men Are Drawn to Samurai Style| Samurai・Ronin・Bushido・Ninja and Men’s Kimono
2025年11月15日
Over the past few years, the number of overseas customers visiting Japan has been steadily increasing.
Among men who choose men’s kimono, some naturally mention the word “Samurai.”
“I feel like Samurai.”
“This looks like Ronin style.”
“Bushido… cool!”
I often hear these kinds of reactions.
Why are many overseas men fascinated by Samurai aesthetics?
And why does men’s kimono so easily connect with the idea of “Samurai Style”?
Today, I will explain the reasons in a simple way.
Why Overseas Men Admire Samurai (Samurai)
Bushido = Sincerity, Quiet Strength, “Japanese Spirit”
Overseas, Bushido (the way of the warrior) is often understood as a symbol of
honesty, discipline, calm strength,
and the traditional spirit of Japan.
Ronin = Freedom, Minimalism, Lone-Wolf Image
The image of Ronin (masterless Samurai)—
freedom, independence, minimalism—
is also popular around the world.
Movies, Anime, and Games Spread Samurai Culture Globally
Words like Samurai / Ninja / Katana have spread worldwide through
movies, anime, and video games,
which also strengthens the global fascination.
Why Men’s Kimono Connects with “Samurai Style”
Men’s kimono has a straight, simple silhouette.
Dark colors—black, navy, brown—match the global image of “Samurai colors.”
As a result, men’s kimono easily overlaps the image many overseas men have.
Haori = Ronin Vibe
A Haori (kimono jacket) is often called a “Japanese Jacket” overseas.
Wearing a Haori over kimono can create a relaxed, Ronin-like silhouette.
Hakama = Authentic Samurai Style
Adding Hakama immediately brings the look closer to a traditional Samurai warrior.
• Haori → Ronin atmosphere
• Hakama → Traditional Samurai
This makes the image very easy to understand for overseas customers.
For a Light Samurai Experience (Souvenir Style)
→ Men’s Kimono Takemoto – Ginza Icchome Store
Some overseas customers say,
“I want to try a light Samurai Style outfit quickly.”
For customers who want a casual or souvenir-like style,
the Ginza Icchome store (ready-made items) is a good match.

→ Men’s Kimono Takemoto (Main Store)
On the other hand, customers who say:
• “I want real silk.”

• “I want to complete Haori and Hakama properly.”
• “I want to order a tailor-made set.”
These customers are best suited for the Main Store.
The Main Store carries colors and materials that match the aesthetics of Samurai Style.

Conclusion|Men’s Kimono is Today’s “Modern Samurai Style”
Overseas men strongly admire Japanese warrior aesthetics such as
Samurai, Ronin, Bushido, Ninja.
Men’s kimono is one of the best ways to express that aesthetic in a modern form.
• For light, casual Samurai Style → Ginza Icchome Store
• For authentic Samurai aesthetics → Main Store

Ginza’s Onitsuka Tiger and Men’s Kimono — Finding “Japanese Aesthetics” in Modern Style
2025年11月14日
As I walk through the streets of Ginza,
I often notice the long line that forms in front of Onitsuka Tiger Ginza.
Many international visitors look excited as they choose their sneakers,
and their presence feels like part of the “new face” of Ginza today.
From time to time, I also see people carrying Onitsuka Tiger shopping bags stopping by my shop.
Perhaps it’s a natural flow — “Since I bought a Japanese brand item, maybe I should take a look at kimono as well.”
A Quiet Shared Aesthetic Between Japanese Brands and Kimono
Onitsuka Tiger is known worldwide as a Japanese brand.
Its designs carry a sense of calmness and understated beauty.
Simple, careful, refined — this quiet elegance also exists in the world of kimono.
In kimono, beauty is not about flashiness but about craftsmanship, subtlety, and balance.
Even in different genres, Japanese brands share this sense of refined simplicity.
What Visitors Seek in Ginza: “Japanese-ness”
Ginza is lined with global luxury brands,
but many international visitors come here looking for something uniquely Japanese.
I feel this strongly every day through my interactions with customers.
Onitsuka Tiger’s sneakers are one expression of Japanese beauty,
while kimono and traditional garments express it in another form.
Recently, I occasionally hear international visitors say:
“I want a men’s kimono or yukata.”
This was rare in the past.
Now I actually see people who pair sneakers with kimono.
That combination looks modern and refreshing, and I find it interesting.
Of course, it’s still a minority.
But as a way to enjoy kimono casually and more freely,
sneakers can be a fun option.
Some Ideas:
・A brightly colored haori × white sneakers
・Denim kimono × casual sneakers
・Black kimono × black sneakers

Kimono as casual wear —
these modern men’s kimono styles may continue to expand through the influence of sneakers.
Summary
Watching the line in front of Onitsuka Tiger,
I’m reminded of the depth and appeal that Japanese brands possess.
At the same time, I feel that this “Japanese-ness” sparks interest in the world of kimono as well.
Sneakers and kimono —
two very different items, yet each expressing Japanese aesthetics in its own way.
As I walked through Ginza, those were the thoughts that crossed my mind.
Men’s Kimono Shop Takemoto|Japanese Haori Jackets You Can Simply Wear Over Your Clothes
2025年11月01日
There are several types of traditional Japanese clothing.
The basic kimono, the yukata for summer, and the haori — a short coat traditionally worn over a kimono.
In modern terms, a haori is like a Japanese-style jacket.
Many visitors come to our shop looking for yukata, but some come just to buy a haori.
It can be worn casually over Western clothes and doesn’t require any special dressing skills.

In the U.S. and other countries, some people wear haori at parties or cultural events as a stylish fashion piece.
Both men and women enjoy wearing them like jackets, adding a touch of Japanese tradition to their look.
We’ve even had customers who purchased only a haori for that reason.
Wearing a traditional haori as part of your everyday fashion is a wonderful way to enjoy Japanese style.
Not only as traditional wear, but also as a casual outer layer — a haori offers a unique and elegant option.
International Visitors Also Choose Authentic Men’s Kimono
2025年10月15日
For many international visitors to Japan, a yukata is a popular souvenir choice.
At our store as well, we often welcome customers from overseas who come looking for a yukata.
A yukata is mainly cotton-based, and is the most casual form of men’s kimono worn in summer.
In other words, a yukata is also part of the kimono category.
At the same time, there are visitors who want something beyond yukata—a full set of men’s kimono that can be worn all year round, including a haori jacket, obi belt, and even haori-himo ties.
In fact, some of our overseas customers have told us, “Since we came all the way to Japan, we want to get the complete style.”
That is why at Otoko no Kimono Takemoto, we offer a wide selection: from polyester men’s kimono that are easy to care for, to authentic silk kimono for a more traditional experience.
Depending on your lifestyle and budget, we can help you achieve the men’s kimono style you’re looking for.

Enjoying a yukata casually is wonderful.
But creating a full men’s kimono style with haori and obi is another way to experience Japanese culture.
At our specialty shop in Ginza, you can choose either style with confidence.
Tokyo Men’s Kimono Shop | Everyday Encounters with Overseas Guests
2025年10月12日
The other day, two parties dropped by on a weekday afternoon.
One was a Japanese customer who’s heading to Australia next week and wanted a men’s kimono to wear there.
The other was a visitor from Europe—Nordic vibes—who stopped in to choose a men’s kimono as a memory of their time in Japan.
It still feels a little mysterious and very special: people who go abroad from Tokyo, and people who come to Tokyo from abroad, all finding joy in men’s kimono.

These days, inbound visitors from all over the world also come to see men’s kimono and men’s yukata.
Kimono may be a Japanese tradition, but moments like these remind me how it crosses borders and connects people.
Yukata for Travelers, Kimono for Residents – Diverse Customers from Around the World
2025年09月30日
Many overseas visitors come to our shop looking for yukata first. Yukata are popular as relaxing home wear or as souvenirs, often in the 10,000–20,000 yen range, making them easy to choose and take home. Sizing is not such a strict issue, and that is part of their appeal.
On the other hand, foreigners who live in Japan or stay long-term sometimes choose custom-made items from fabric, and they may look for more formal kimono, haori, or hakama.
In fact, our customers are very diverse. Some are inspired by Japanese culture, manga, movies, period dramas, or the image of the samurai. Recently, partly influenced by the TV drama SHŌGUN, some visitors have been interested in silk and other traditional fabrics, as well as hakama. It is fascinating to see people from around the world, each with different backgrounds, coming to look for men’s kimono – something I never imagined when I started this business.
Men’s Kimono Takemoto has two locations in Ginza. At our main store, you can find a wide selection including silk kimono and haori. At our Ginza 1-chome store, we also carry more affordable yukata in the 10,000–20,000 yen range, popular among travelers as souvenirs. Depending on your purpose and budget, both stores are ready to welcome you.

Conclusion
From travelers who want to choose an easy yukata to cultural enthusiasts seeking formal kimono, people from all over the world visit us. We look forward to welcoming you at our two locations in Ginza.

Why Men’s Kimono Are Surprisingly Hard to Find in Tokyo, Japan
2025年09月29日
Many visitors come to Japan thinking, “Since I’m in Japan, I want to buy a kimono.”
However, when they start looking, they quickly realize that very few shops actually sell them. For men’s kimono and yukata, it is even harder, and many travelers are surprised at how difficult it is to find ready-to-wear items.
During the summer months, you may see yukata in department stores, but usually only in July and August. Once September comes, even yukata almost completely disappear from the shops. And when it comes to men’s items, only a handful of stores across the country carry them at all.
Here in Ginza, one of Japan’s most famous shopping districts, there are still very few shops that consistently stock men’s kimono. Men’s Kimono Takemoto is one of the rare places where you can always find a selection – from summer yukata to silk kimono and haori – available throughout the year. Whether you are visiting Japan or looking for something to wear in daily life, you can find what you need here.

Conclusion
Many people come to Japan believing that kimono are easy to buy, but in reality, men’s kimono are not so simple to find. That is why our shop in Ginza, Tokyo has become a special place for those seeking men’s kimono all year round.
