At our main store in Ginza, we recently welcomed visitors from overseas who told us they were looking for a yukata.
After trying on a men’s yukata, they felt it was not quite what they had imagined. They then asked if we had something shorter.
Next, we showed them a haori jacket, but it seemed they were actually looking for something that could be worn closed in the front and more casually.
At that point, we introduced jinbei and samue.
As soon as they saw them, they immediately understood that this was the style they had been looking for.
They then visited our Ginza 1-Chome store, where we offer a wider selection of casual Japanese menswear, and purchased several jinbei and samue.
This experience reminded us that many international visitors search for words such as “yukata” or “kimono,” but what they are actually looking for is comfortable Japanese clothing that is easy to wear without a belt or special dressing techniques.

At Otoko no Kimono Takemoto, we operate two stores in Ginza.
Our main store specializes in traditional men’s kimono, while our Ginza 1-Chome store offers a wider range of casual Japanese menswear including yukata, haori, jinbei, and samue.
If you are visiting Tokyo and would like to experience Japanese menswear, we would be happy to help you find the style that suits you best.
